are we looking? >> foggy. some higher clouds up to lake county. low clouds will be with us at noon. high clouds, turning mostly cloudy. the big news are definitely the low clouds and the fog. a lot of tropical clouds on their way but they are taking more of an aim towards seattle and portland, maybe you can smell some of that smoke from the scrap yard fire. had reports in fremont, oakland, palo alto, menlo park, seems to be decreasing. napa, 39. there's a lot of 40s here. even 55 oakland. 54 san francisco. mostly cloudy here in the morning. kind of a mild start. due east wind. almost everybody has a due east wind and kind of a mild pattern in the hills. i've seen 56 to a 9. high pressure is still over us. some of these higher clouds will drift through. overall, morning fog, then high clouds. kind of a mix of sunday and clouds. and then turning cloudy. combination will give us a mixed pattern. here's sal. >>> we've had problems this early commute. we've had a crash in san francisco. we've had a crash in solano county. but we've had also good traffic. look at the bay bridge. this is not ty

deck filtering across. it will be with us probably most of the day. look for filtered sunshine here. a nice sunrise. that's for sure. but a partly cloudy/mostly cloudy day. temperatures, though, really kind of warming up a little bit, especially toward the santa clara valley. we'll end up with 60s to near 70 on some of the highs, especially santa cruz and also girl bil roy. a lot of these higher clouds mean a very fair, hazy day. this will gave to partly cloudy skies tomorrow. 60s on the temperatures to a few upper 60s. here's sal. >>> good morning. right now we're looking at a commute that is doing pretty well especially for this time of the morning. i have to a dealing -- i have a feeling it has to do with this bebeing -- with this being thicke weekend. bay bridge toll plaza is backed up for 10, 15 minutes before you make it past the metering lights and get on the bridge. we're looking at the commute in hayward. the traffic here looks pretty good. southbound a little bit slow from a street to tennyson and then it gets better with slow spots on the way to fremont. back to the desk.

temperature slipping back in to the 40s for most of us. by the afternoon a drop coming for the afternoon highs. we will be a lot cooler and winds will start to increase. we have a wind advisory late tonight into early tomorrow morning for some areas. i will show you which areas and what you can expect outside your door coming up. >> happening now, terminal 3 at lax remains closed at this hour. this morning the suspect, a 23- year-old is in the hospital in critical condition. reportedly shot four times including in the mouth and leg. investigators say that he walked into the terminal yesterday morning, took a rifle out of a bag and opened fire. one tsa security officer was killed, three others wounded and two people were hurt as they ran from the scene. >> a cop from outside started yelling, -- hit the floor and there were kids crying and people freaking out. >> reporter: the tsa officer killed has been identitied as 39-year-old g era ldo hear nan dez. he has been with the agency since 2010 and is the first tsa officer killed in the line of duty. investigators say they found a note on the s

to tell us why donations are especially important this year. allie? >> the need is greater this year. there are more people unable to put food on the table. >> we have 165 turkeys. >> st. anthony's foundation curve side turkey donation is in full swing. volunteers were accepting frozen turkeys all day yesterday. they plan to be out here today. yesterday the largest came in a u-haul truck, 165 turkeys. they plan on serving 4,000 meals on thanksgiving day. that's 500 more than last year. >> anyone on food stamps is probably short. anywhere from five to six meals a month depending on the scenarios. we're expecting big numbers. >> reporter: in the meantime in oakland yesterday, the line of people stretched around the block for a free turkey in that city. they handed out 1,500 free turkeys for those to cook in time for thanksgiving dinner. it's the time of the year they need to step up their efforts to bring in donations to prepare for the busy holiday season and thanksgiving and christmas. and back here starting at 9:00, volunteers at st. anthony's will have everything set up here. they'

at the tunnel where traffic is moving smoothly. >> reporter: that's right. we can seat traffic here behind us. that bright shiny light there, that's the fourth bore. it opened at 4:25. it's a change that definitely will be noticed by drivers, particularly tariffers who -- drivers on the weekend. there will always be four lanes open in both directions going east and west through the tunnel. drivers honked as the ore opened. the new bore means cal trans won't have to reverse the flow twice a day using the middle bore. this extra one bent will shave time off in the drive for people going reverse directions, people headed toward the city in the evening and those driving toward the east bay in the morning. >> going to add a level of predictability to schedule. right now on the weekends it's not predictable as if they will have two tunnels open in their direction. you can't predict what will happen or where. at this point now people are able to know there are two tunnels in each direction. >> reporter: now 160,000 drivers pass through the tunnel every day. back out here live we want to show you wh

, another nice sunrise for most of us. more cloud covers back there. back along the coastline. patchy dense fog in your neighborhood. if you're an early starter, it is back. santa rosa and nevada, they are all reporting the thick fog this morning. if you look to the east, it will be a gorgeous start of the day giving you a big look at the sun that will be shining right there. away from the coast for the afternoon, settle changes will continue in the way of the cooler temperatures for the second half of the day. eventually we may see some rain. we'll talk about it for just a moment as it remains a big story and you can see how it is very close now to becoming ashore for vietnam. let's track it for you. the winds are 85 miles per hour. still a westerly track at 21 miles per hour. that's good news as you don't want them to slow down right off the coast as you need to move in through the next 24 hours or so. it will continue to weaken by this afternoon with a 65 miles per hour winds estimated. and then tomorrow morning, 40 miles per hour. and still it is going to bring a storm surge as well as

and the well was hit by shrapnel. their injuries are non-life-threatening and police have told us it appears to be random although it's unknown if it's gang related at all. police have limited information on the the suspects. >> the suspects fled prior to our arrival. one suspect fled on foot and another in a vehicle. >> reporter: a couple of hours before that crime occurred there was another shooting at 2 a.m. police say a group of people were hanging outside dover avenue. police say shots were fired and a latino man in his mid 30s or early 40s was hit multiple times. a very busy morning for officers? san jose. we are told they were also investigating a stabbing that happened in the downtown area. we don't know his condition at this point. but in all of these crimes nobody has been arrested yet. reporting live from san jose, janine leila vega. >> . >>> two people rushed to a hospital overnight after a high-speed chase in santa rosa ended with a crash. it happened on mar marleau road ride there. during the chase the driver lost control and crashed into a pole and a finance. >> the vehicle ca

. investigators tell us he was not in custody. they were still working to determine if he was speeding and who had the right-of-way. commuters who crossed intersection every day witnessed many close calls. >> it's pretty busy. if cars want to turn right, they often turn right, even though there's no right turn to get on the freeway. >> reporter: this intersection is such a problem. there are traffic cameras all around. investigators say they will be reviewing the video to determine exactly what happened here overnight. now, separate from the collision that happened overnight, as we mentioned, this intersection is dangerous with right-hand turns. you can see the new photo enforced sign that's been put in place. that's there for the red light cameras. as we come back out here live, this is to stop people from turning right onto market. the fine is $238 for the citation. the cameras went live starting november 1st. there will be a 30-day grace period. they will pass out warnings for 30 days, then if you are caught, making a right-hand turn, a legal right-hand turn, there will be a citation. katie ute

of days here. we'll see changes as we get a good low dropping in the east of us as we head toward friday and saturday. sunny and warmer. patchy fog near the coast. we'll have a warmer afternoon. temperatures with a few in the mid-70s. here's sal. >>> steve, good morning. we are looking at a commute that's busy but it's not as bad as it was yesterday, in case you are keeping track of those kinds of things. the bay bridge is about a 25, 30-minute delay. if you are in the fast track lane coming off 880, that's probably your best approach to the bay bridge. there is a minor injury nearby, west 80 at the toll plaza. they've been moved off to the side. chp is taking a report. you will see it. and 880 looks good. we don't have a backup yet near the coliseum. 580 looks good. southbound 101 and 280 are doing very well on the peninsula. if i'm able to move the map over here, i'm just gonna drag it over. you can see the traffic on the east bay commute is slow. in fact, it's backing up from about 238 as you head on down the main part of fremont. after that it gets better. let's go back to the desk.

on the road. >> reporter: thank you for the update and joining us this morning. again, that is the situation out here. it will not get better any time soon. it happened before 4:00 when the big rig driver says someone cut him off and ended up on the side of the road, overturned in the embankment, but traffic has been a mess ever since. claudia wong, ktvu fox 2 news. >> thank you, claudia. >>> it is 7:06. an early morning car crash is expected to cause power problems in one hayward neighborhood all morning long. a van hit a power pole at a and hathaway shortly after 1:00 this morning. the crash at one point knocked out power to 5,700 homes and businesses in the area. the accident also caused tense moments payer feel living in the community. >> -- moments for people living in the community. >> i was just sitting in the house. i hear a loud boom and i see the van out here. i ain't got no power. >> number of homes and businesses without power is now up to 50. the power is hoped to be restored before noon . in the meantime the driver involved in the crash is facing drunk driving charges.

. there's a little bit moving through. not a lot. these un-- unfortunately, it's not continue use. these are just bands. in marin county, napa county, very light kind of intermittent. it's heading towards over san pablo bay and towards concord, east bay, highway 4. again, there's not a lot here. you see the light green. this is kind of a mist. maybe might goat a pocket or two. vallejo has had .01. duncan mills, it's been raining off and on lightly for about two hours. it looks like they are on a little bit of a break. but the russian river, all of that rain sometimes doesn't show up on the river. there is a lot of cloud cover. unfortunately, you know when you got a good front. this is not a good front. it's a lot of overrunning rain. we don't have the lift to give us a good rainfall. it can stack up if it continues and that that would be the face to the north. a lot of 50s to the north. this will drag allows us throughout the day. cloudy, mild, off-and-on rain, mainly to the north. occasionally bands dipping south. i think by this afternoon, this evening, a better opportunity to

clouds in central california not us. most of the cloud cover will stay south of monterey and salina. starting you off at 42. sunny side up today, steer clear. temperatures again, a little bit of a northeast breeze it looks like is trying to develop. a little hint of one in san francisco. not very strong and the direction is offshore, that's a sign of things to come over the weekend. not too bad out in the burbs. a quiet pattern. 60s. >>> we are looking at a commute that looks good. i didn't realize that some people do have to go to work. but enough people have the day off to make it nice and light. if you have to go to work, no major problems, by the way, if you are driving in to san francisco. northbound 101, approaching the 80 split, that traffic is moving along nicely until you get to the lower deck of the bay bridge. i want to mention that the traffic around the shopping mall isn't all that bad. as we look at the malls, we have been looking at walnut creek for example, it's not exactly a mall. it's a shopping area and some of the streets are getting crowded. no major problems on

:00. katie utehs has been following the story just after that. she joins us live to tell us how traffic is doing now. katie? >> reporter: sal, traffic is flowing smoothly. chp cleared the scene. it happened about five minutes ago. there's still flare deprein the roadway -- debris in the roadway. officers blocked the onram to 87 following the deadly crash that happened shortly before 5:00. investigators confirm for us in their most recent update that at least two cars hit a 26-year- old man killing him on the roadway. the driver of a white toyota corolla hit the man in the number one lane of the southbound 87 onramp coming from northbound 280. a second car struck the man and a third likely hit the other vehicles. all of the other drivers stayed on scene. officers are trying to determine why the man was crossing a dark roadway. >> we don't believe him to be homeless based on his appearance which opens up why was he here. there were no vehicles in the area. possibly the thinking was maybe he broke down and was walking home. but at this time, there are no vehicles all the way back to 101. >

an emergency landing. joining us now on the phone is airport spokeswoman rose mary barnes. what can you tell us. >> good morning, i can tell you american airlines flight 1118 did depart our airport at 6:20 this morning. returned for landing. i am told the nature of the emergency was a bird strike that likely caused engine failure. the aircraft did land safely. i'm told there are no injuries. airport firefighters and other airport personnel responded. again i'm happy to report the aircraft did land safely and was able to taxi to the gate. >> and the video we were just watching for our viewers. that was flight 1118 that did make the safe landing after a bird strike. any word on how many people were on board? >> i don't have that information. at this time. >> okay. and so with a bird strike, i assume that it was one engine that was out but these planes can usually still fly without one engine; correct? >> correct. it is an md80, a two engine aircraft. the number one is the one that sustained the bird strike and we will be working with the airline to investigate the situation and the airline will b

an underpass near south california right near the trader's joe. brian flores is here to tell us why the community is split over this. >> reporter: good morning. as you can see, to my left and to your right, this is one of a few homeless encampments located here on walnut creek. this one, as you mentioned, on south california boulevard near newell avenue. this is one that is scheduled to be removed by walnut creek police sometime later today. i want to go to the scene from last night. as you can see more of the video of belongings left here. as you mentioned, there are two sides to this. you have homeless advocates concerned about where the homeless will end up when they get cleared out. with the winter months quickly approaching. there is concern of a lack of resources on where they can go. the advocates are warning that county shelters will not be able to accommodate the people that are forced to leave. on the other side of this is the business owners here. some have complained on a daily basis for months. sometimes years of public drunkenness and other oishes. a committee was form

outside a middle school on gardener avenue last night. alex savidge is live to tell us what we've learned about the young victim and his attackers. good morning, alex. >> reporter: good morning, tori. we understand this teen remains in the hospital this morning with several stab wounds to his upper body. police here in santa rosa say he was attacked last night. it happened right where we are, right behind lawrence cook middle school. police say a group of young men ganged up on this 18-year-old, punching him, kicking him and stabbing him. the victim was found along gardner avenue around 8:00 last night. this is in the roselynn area. paramedics rushed the victim to the hospital. he's expected to survive his injuries. this teen told police he was attacked by a group of seven or eight people. police say they were all gang members. >> he reported that seven to eight subjects had more or less jumped him and challenged him about his gang affiliation and proceeded to punch, kick and stab him multiple times. >> reporter: the group drove off in an older model silver honda odyssey. the young men be
